Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet initiative, which is an international partnership aimed at promoting the exchange and scaling of proven solutions for sustainable development. This platform connects local practices with global strategies, such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. GIZ manages PANORAMA in collaboration with IUCN, UNDP, and other partners, facilitating knowledge transfer within thematic communities. The intern will be situated in the Climate, Rural Development, and Infrastructure department and will support the implementation of the Support Project, with the goal of further developing PANORAMA as a central knowledge management and governance tool.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for ensuring and enhancing the quality assurance of PANORAMA case studies by implementing established mechanisms, processes, and guidelines. They will contribute to the strategic development of PANORAMA by assisting in business planning and the development of long-term sustainability strategies. The intern will prepare and co-coordinate PANORAMA's presence at international events (e.g., CBD & UNFCCC COPs, IUCN World Conservation Congress) and on intranet platforms. They will analyze and prepare insights from PANORAMA Solutions to derive practical guidelines and recommendations. Additionally, the intern will participate in innovative learning formats, including writing workshops, knowledge management workshops with partner countries, and webinars. They will also support impact monitoring, including the systematic collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant performance indicators, and will be involved in the creation, preparation, and structuring of operational and financial reports. Proactive support for other project-related tasks and processes as needed will also be part of their responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a degree in fields such as Agroecology, Sustainability Management, Innovation Management, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Conservation and Management, or a related area. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English are essential, with the ability to present complex content in an understandable manner. Initial experience in data analysis, preparation, and visualization, as well as in creating precise reports, is required. A structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style, combined with strong organizational skills and teamwork abilities, is necessary. Desired qualifications include experience in knowledge management, event organization, or international cooperation, ideally with partner organizations from academia, politics, or practice. Knowledge of international biodiversity, climate, or agricultural policies (e.g., CBD, UNFCCC, SDGs) and an understanding of global sustainability processes are also beneficial. Initial practical experience in project development, project management, and/or strategic business planning and fundraising is preferred, along with experience in monitoring and evaluation processes, including the analysis and interpretation of performance indicators for impact assessment.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to have a current enrollment in a relevant academic program or to have recently completed their studies, with the condition that their graduation is no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. This ensures that the internship is an integral part of their educational experience.
Experience: Candidates should possess initial experience in relevant fields, particularly in data analysis, project management, and strategic planning. Practical experience in monitoring and evaluation processes is also advantageous, as it will contribute to the intern's ability to effectively support the project and its objectives.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory, as the intern will need to communicate effectively in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.
