UNHCR's Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) is a vital part of its Division of External Relations, responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector to support its humanitarian efforts. The PSP has developed a comprehensive Private Sector Fundraising Strategy that emphasizes Individual Giving and Private Sector Partnerships, targeting priority fundraising markets and regions to maximize support for refugees.

Job Overview:
The Middle Value Donor Officer position is crucial for the growth of the donor development channel within UNHCR. This role focuses on cultivating relationships with high-tier individual giving donors who contribute significant amounts annually. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and building stewardship with the Middle-Value Donor (MVD) segment, which is considered a key growth pillar for the organization. The officer will work closely with the Associate PSP IG Officer and other team members to create annual plans aimed at increasing revenue and enhancing donor lifetime value. The position requires developing personalized communications to engage donors effectively, ensuring that their contributions are maximized and that they feel valued and connected to UNHCR's mission. The officer will also monitor giving trends and report on the effectiveness of strategies implemented to engage this donor segment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Middle Value Donor Officer include:
  • Collaborating with the PSP Officer and Associate PSP IG Officer to create annual plans for the MVD program aimed at increasing revenue and enhancing donor lifetime value.
  • Identifying the MVD segment within individual-giving donors and planning their migration through a structured pipeline program to upgrade those with potential to the Major Donor programme.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with MVD donors through personalized communications across various channels, including direct mail, events, emails, telemarketing, and WhatsApp.
  • Working with cross-functional teams to develop tailored programs for the MVD segment and acting as the primary communication point for this group.
  • Monitoring and analyzing MVD giving trends, providing regular reports and recommendations to management.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recording of donor information in the database, adhering to data integrity standards.
  • Tracking key performance indicators and metrics for the MVD segment to ensure income targets are met.
  • Performing other duties as required, including telemarketing responsibilities and supplier coordination.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Middle Value Donor Officer position include:
  • A high school diploma is mandatory, while a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Social Science, or related fields is desirable.
  • A minimum of 3 years of working experience with a high school diploma, or 2 years with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Graduate/Master’s Degree in a relevant field, specifically in marketing, customer development, or fundraising.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, customer retention, or telemarketing is essential, with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in these areas.
  • Strong technical knowledge of private sector fundraising, donor retention, and development is required.
  • Excellent copywriting, editing, and communication skills are necessary to draft effective donor retention materials.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are crucial for monitoring and reporting on donor engagement.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have at least a high school diploma, with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Social Science, or other related fields being highly desirable. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the principles of marketing and communication strategies essential for engaging with donors effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma, or 2 years with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Graduate/Master’s Degree. Candidates should have substantial experience in fundraising, customer development, or telemarketing, with proven success in these areas being an added advantage. Experience in training fundraising or sales representatives in telemarketing agencies is also desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia is mandatory. Additional languages are considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with a diverse donor base and engage effectively with various stakeholders.
