Job Overview: The Donor Care & Development Intern position is a full-time internship within the Private Sector Partnerships service under the Division of External Relations at UNHCR in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The internship is designed to support the newly established Donor Care & Development (DCD) team, which focuses on managing individual donor relationships through retention, development, and engagement activities. The intern will assist in donor communication programs, contributing to the expansion of UNHCR's Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) program in Malaysia. This role is crucial for enhancing donor loyalty and ensuring effective communication strategies that resonate with supporters, ultimately leading to increased financial contributions to support refugees and other vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, primarily divided into three categories: Donor Communication (50%), Donor Management (40%), and other ad-hoc tasks (10%). In terms of donor communication, the intern will manage donor email inquiries, research and develop content for donor communications using the internal media library, and analyze engagement metrics for both online and offline communication channels. The intern will also support the creation and distribution of communications, including emails and direct mail. For donor management, the intern will assist in monitoring, analyzing, and consolidating donor data from various platforms. Additionally, the intern may be required to perform other tasks as needed to support the DCD team.
Required Qualifications: To be eligible for this internship, candidates must be either recent graduates (having completed their studies within the last two years) or current students in a graduate or undergraduate program at a university accredited by IAU/UNESCO. Candidates should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to the work of UNHCR. It is important to note that individuals with immediate family members working for UNHCR are not eligible for this internship.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field. This educational requirement ensures that interns possess a foundational understanding of the principles and practices related to humanitarian work, donor relations, and communication strategies.

Interns will work full-time, with hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive a monthly allowance of RM 2,132.84 to help cover living expenses. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to legally reside and work in Malaysia for the duration of the internship, and they are responsible for obtaining and renewing any necessary visas and residence permits. Additionally, interns must arrange their own medical insurance for the duration of the internship.
