Job Overview: The position of Consultant for the National ODS Banks Data Report is critical for the successful development of a comprehensive report that will aid in the preparation of the National Inventory of Banks and National Plan in Grenada. This role involves extensive data collection and analysis, focusing on the management of controlled substances that deplete the ozone layer. The consultant will work closely with the National Ozone Unit (NOU) of Grenada and the OzonAction Montreal Protocol Programme Management Officers for the Caribbean. The consultant is expected to undertake a desk study, develop a database of controlled substances, and prepare a detailed report that includes data trends, stakeholder analysis, and recommendations for improving the management of these substances. The position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a range of duties including: conducting a desk study on existing data related to banks of used and unwanted controlled substances; developing a comprehensive database that records details such as substance name, quantity, and location; collecting data on controlled substances in installed equipment; creating a stakeholder database that includes roles and responsibilities; identifying data gaps and opportunities for improvement; locating laboratories capable of analyzing used or unwanted ODS and HFCs; preparing a draft and final National ODS Banks Data Report; and supporting the NOU in conducting national consultations and public outreach efforts. The consultant will also be expected to engage with stakeholders through surveys and on-site visits to gather necessary data and insights.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a recognized first-level degree (Bachelor’s) in fields such as chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, engineering, agricultural science, or mathematics. A Master's or advanced degree is also acceptable. Additionally, candidates should have experience in national data collection, particularly in the Refrigeration Servicing Sector (RSS), and must demonstrate strong communication skills in English. Experience in writing and reviewing technical project documents is essential, as is a deep understanding of the challenges associated with the management of ODSs and HFCs in Grenada. Candidates should also have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in conducting national surveys, developing reports, and organizing stakeholder consultations.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a recognized first-level degree (Bachelor’s) in relevant fields such as chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, engineering, agricultural science, or mathematics.
