Job Overview: The Team Assistant (IT) position is situated within the IT Services Management Unit of the Information Technology Section, Division of Administration at ESCAP. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Information Technology Assistant and overall supervision of the Chief of the IT Services Management Unit. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the effective delivery of Network and Telephony services. This includes a wide range of office support and administrative functions that are crucial for the smooth operation of these services. The Team Assistant will be involved in the installation and configuration of IP telephony systems, network systems, and audio/video conferencing hardware/software. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide guidance to less experienced staff and assist in data collection and analysis for decision-making purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Team Assistant (IT) include but are not limited to: performing a wide range of office support and administrative functions to facilitate Network and Telephony services; installing and configuring IP telephony systems and network systems, including LAN and Wi-Fi; testing audio and video conferencing hardware/software; tracking telecommunication expenses; managing IT Services Subscription records; monitoring processes and schedules related to the unit’s outputs; verifying the accuracy of requisite documents; researching and compiling information for reports and meetings; generating statistical reports and work orders; administering telephone billing reports; responding to information requests; assisting in the preparation of presentation materials; performing data entry and extraction; maintaining files and databases; providing software and office equipment support; guiding less experienced staff; assisting with data analysis and preparation of reports; updating information materials; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Team Assistant (IT) position include a high school diploma or equivalent. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience. The candidate must possess a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in Network and IP telephony support, or one year if graduated with a first-level university degree. Experience with Cisco LAN Switching, Wi-Fi Controller, AP, IP phones, Jabber, and MS Teams Telephony is essential. Familiarity with the United Nations Common System or similar international organizations is desirable, as is experience in data analytics or a related area.
