Job Overview: The Architectural Design Consultant will play a crucial role in assisting the Lead Architect Design Engineers and the Architect Design Engineers at the Design section HQ in Gaza. The consultant will be responsible for developing and documenting designs for a wide variety of high-performance projects undertaken by the Agency. This position encompasses all stages of design, from site planning and concept design through to the preparation of construction documents. The consultant will ensure that project schedules and design quality are maintained throughout all phases, adhering to UNRWA’s policies and procedures. The role requires participation in development, pre-design, and pre-construction meetings for each project, providing design input and feedback, and supporting the overall design process. The consultant will also be involved in creating architectural details, developing 3D models, and preparing project presentations and documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: assisting in and carrying out preliminary and detailed architectural design drawings for all Agency projects in accordance with established needs, policies, and design criteria; participating in development, pre-design, and pre-construction meetings; providing design input and support from master planning through to construction documents; developing 3D modeling and assisting in project presentations; preparing cost estimates and tender documentation; reviewing tenders; ensuring that project information is clearly incorporated into project documents; communicating progress to the Lead Design Engineer according to the established project schedule; and performing any other duties as assigned. This role is integral to the success of the design team and the overall mission of the Agency.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in Architecture Engineering. A minimum of four years of experience in the design of architectural projects is required, along with proficiency in design using AutoCAD software. Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in computer modeling software such as Sketch-Up and rendering applications, as well as familiarity with Adobe products like Photoshop. Excellent rendering, visualization, and graphic skills are necessary, along with a good command of the Microsoft Office Suite. A working knowledge of building codes and standards, a strong commitment to sustainable design, and the ability to focus on tasks and meet deadlines are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Architecture Engineering from an accredited institution. This foundational education is critical for understanding the principles of architectural design and the technical skills necessary for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in the design of architectural projects. This experience should include proficiency in using design software such as AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering applications. Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to last for a duration of 6 months, with remuneration equivalent to Grade 13, amounting to $1290.63, which includes an 8.33% allowance.
