Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on sustainable mobility, which is crucial for economic development, social inclusion, and the creation of sustainable cities. The intern will work on projects that aim to decarbonize the transport sector, which is responsible for 24% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. The role involves supporting the political advisory activities for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), conducting research, and developing concepts and tools for sustainable mobility. The intern will also assist in creating presentations and publications for partners in developing countries and contribute to the international discourse on sustainable transport through the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting political advisory activities for the BMZ.
  • Conducting research and participating in activities related to sustainable transport.
  • Further developing focus topics for the TUMI.
  • Assisting in the creation of presentations and publications for partners in emerging and developing countries.
  • Contributing to the conceptualization and editorial preparation of project content for effective public representation through online and print communication products, including websites, social media, newsletters, and publications.
  • Supporting the preparation and execution of webinars and other digital events related to the project.
  • Engaging in internal knowledge management within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program (at least at the undergraduate level) or have completed a degree in fields such as political science, geography, urban studies, environmental science, transport, communication, social sciences, or a related area. A strong interest in development policy and a basic understanding of the challenges facing the transport sector in developing countries are essential. Familiarity with international development stakeholders and organizations, as well as practical experience with these actors, is advantageous. Candidates should possess excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken, and have a strong aptitude for writing and editing texts. Organizational skills and a proactive approach to event preparation and partner engagement are also required.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be pursuing or have completed a degree in relevant fields such as political science, geography, urban studies, environmental science, transport, communication, social sciences, or a related discipline. The internship is only available to individuals who are currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
Candidates should have some practical experience or familiarity with international development stakeholders and organizations. This could include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to sustainable transport or development policy.

Languages:
Fluency in both German and English is mandatory, with strong writing and editing skills in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
