Its mission is to support the global implementation of development policy goals. GIZ collaborates with partner organizations in 120 countries, engaging in a variety of projects aimed at improving lives and creating meaningful tasks for its employees. The organization emphasizes the importance of making a difference in the world while also fostering personal development for its staff.
Job Overview: The position is located within the 'Corporate Development' staff unit, specifically assigned to the 'Corporate Policy' department and the 'Principles and Accountability Management' group. This department plays a crucial role in supporting the corporate management in strategically positioning and orienting the overall company both internally and externally. It acts as a think tank for selected corporate and development policy topics, addressing significant trends in the social and political environment as well as within the company itself. The group is responsible for enhancing the coherence of business and corporate policy principles, coordinating audits (especially from the Federal Audit Office, the European Court of Auditors, state audit offices, and foreign audit offices), and managing the strategic analysis of external audits while facilitating learning from these evaluations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the position include supporting the preparation and accompaniment of audit reviews, monitoring and evaluating audit findings and feedback, and preparing results for internal reporting. The role also involves addressing cross-audit topics for the entire organization, participating in internal meetings with various departments, attending external appointments with auditors, and independently handling suitable inquiries. Additionally, the candidate will participate in team meetings within the 'Principles and Accountability Management' group.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be qualified and committed legal trainees (Rechtsreferendar*in) with excellent English language skills, both spoken and written. They should possess analytical skills to structure complex issues and present them clearly. A careful and independent working style is essential, along with an interest and understanding of international cooperation and diverse legal questions. Practical experience, such as internships or experiences abroad, particularly in developing countries or comparable international contexts, is advantageous.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be in the process of their legal traineeship (Referendariat) and is specifically aimed at legal trainees rather than interns. This indicates a need for a solid educational foundation in law, typically at the graduate level, and relevant legal training.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have some level of practical experience, which can be gained through internships or relevant work experiences, especially in international settings or development-related contexts. This experience will enhance their understanding of the complexities involved in international law and development policy.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as the role requires excellent communication skills in both written and spoken forms. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: The position is available for a fixed term from October 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis. The GIZ is committed to diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from individuals with disabilities and ensuring that all employees are valued regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, or sexual orientation. Interested candidates can apply continuously for this position by sending their cover letter and CV to the specified contact person, indicating their preferred deployment period.
