Job Overview: The Online VolunteerTranslator position is designed to support the UNDP's Africa Mini-Grids Program (AMP) by translating project documentation from English to Portuguese. Duties and Responsibilities:
Translate project documentation from English to Portuguese, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Adhere to UNDP's communications guidelines throughout the translation process.
Collaborate with the CESA TEAM at UNDP to understand the context and objectives of the translation.
Ensure that the translated document is concise and effectively communicates the intended message to the target audience.
Participate in any necessary training or briefing sessions to familiarize with the project and its goals.
Provide feedback and suggestions for improving the translation process and outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in both English and Portuguese, with strong written communication skills in both languages.
Experience in translation, particularly in the context of development projects or technical documents, is preferred.
Familiarity with UNDP's mission and objectives, particularly in relation to sustainable development and energy access.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards in translation.
Educational Background: A background in languages, translation, international development, or a related field is preferred. Formal education or certifications in translation or linguistics would be advantageous.
Experience: Previous experience in translation, particularly in the context of international development or energy projects, is highly desirable. Volunteers should have a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality translations under tight deadlines.
Languages: Mandatory: Proficiency in English and Portuguese. Good to have: Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region or development work would be beneficial.
