Job Overview:
The Information Management and Communications Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting IOM Malaysia's projects by providing essential information management and communications support. This position involves assisting in data collection, managing information, and developing communication materials that effectively convey project objectives and achievements. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure that all communications are aligned with IOM's mission and values. This role requires a proactive approach to managing communications campaigns, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that all project-related information is accurately reported and disseminated. The officer will also be responsible for maintaining the organization's online presence and ensuring that all content is up-to-date and relevant.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management and Communications Support Officer include drafting and editing media and communication materials, such as brochures, posters, and reports, in collaboration with project staff and external stakeholders. The officer will contribute to the Mission's official website and social media accounts, ensuring that content is engaging and informative. Additionally, the officer will support the implementation of project activities related to communications, including organizing campaigns and events, and creating key messaging materials. The role also involves monitoring project data submissions, assisting in data analysis, and maintaining the internal project database. The officer will be required to undertake duty travels to document field activities and collect audiovisual materials, ensuring compliance with data protection principles and organizational guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Development Communications, Journalism, Social Science, Information Management, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a high school diploma with at least five years of relevant working experience is acceptable. The position requires a strong background in data analysis, report writing, and media communications. Previous experience working with NGOs or international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate high computer literacy, particularly in Windows and MS Office, and familiarity with graphic design software and social media platforms is advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Development Communications, Journalism, Social Science, Information Management, Information Technology, or Statistics. Candidates with a high school diploma must have a minimum of five years of relevant working experience. The educational qualifications should be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in data analysis and report writing. Candidates with previous work experience in media and communications, public relations, or social media communications will have an advantage. Experience working with NGOs or international organizations is also beneficial, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational context and challenges faced in the field of migration and humanitarian assistance.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bahasa Melayu is required for all applicants, both in oral and written forms. This language proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Malaysia will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification and verification of residency and visa requirements. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
