Job Overview: The position is an internship within the Southeast Asia and Pacific (SEAPA) team of the Regional Team APLAK (Asia, Pacific, Latin America, Caribbean) under the International Services division of GIZ. The internship lasts for six months, from January 26, 2026, to July 25, 202
Interns will support the SEAPA team in daily operations related to GIZ International Services, which involves working with the German government on bilateral development cooperation and various international clients. The role includes assisting in project management and the acquisition of new projects, providing interns with a comprehensive insight into GIZ's structures and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the preparation of offers and pre-qualifications for tenders, conducting thematic research and preparing information for internal purposes, performing market research, supporting project management for ongoing projects, researching and managing project references, assisting in the preparation of expert assignments, and providing administrative and organizational support. This internship offers the opportunity to take on responsibilities within a small international team and gain a broad understanding of GIZ's operations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a university program, ideally from the third semester onwards, in a field related to social or economic sciences. A strong interest in the intersection of development cooperation and economic viability is essential. Relevant international experience in the region, such as internships, is desirable. Proficiency in both German and English, both written and spoken, is required. Candidates should also demonstrate strong skills in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams), possess organizational talent, and have a quick grasp of new concepts. An interest in independent work is also important.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in social or economic sciences, with a focus on development cooperation or related fields. The internship is only available to those who are currently enrolled in a program that requires an internship as part of their studies or who have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, relevant international experience, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, is highly valued. This could include previous internships or volunteer work that demonstrates an understanding of development cooperation and project management.
Languages: Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills relevant to the Asia-Pacific region would be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: The internship is a full-time position and is only available to currently enrolled students or recent graduates. The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
