Job Overview:
The Enumerator position is integral to IOM's efforts in promoting international cooperation on migration issues and providing humanitarian assistance to migrants in need. The Enumerator will conduct both quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field, engaging with individuals from host and migrant communities. This role requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards throughout the data collection process. The Enumerator will report daily progress to the Team Leader and will be responsible for informing them of any issues or incomplete interviews. Conducting interviews in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner is essential, as is the utilization of established mobile data collection tools. The Enumerator will also submit daily updates on progress, challenges, and observations to the Team Leader. Additionally, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate into their work and promote voluntary action within the communities they serve. This includes participating in UNV activities, strengthening knowledge of volunteerism, and contributing to local forms of volunteerism in the host country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Enumerator will have a variety of responsibilities, including: conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field with individuals from both host and migrant communities; maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards; reporting daily progress to the Team Leader and informing them of any issues or incomplete interviews; conducting interviews in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner; utilizing established mobile data collection tools; submitting daily updates to the Team Leader on progress, challenges, and observations; and performing any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor. Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to engage with communities and promote voluntary action, which may include participating in UNV activities, contributing articles or write-ups on field experiences, and assisting with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Enumerator position should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. They should demonstrate a commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in data collection. Additionally, candidates should be adaptable and able to work in challenging environments, showing respect for cultural differences. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential. Familiarity with mobile data collection tools and experience in conducting interviews or surveys will be advantageous. Candidates should also be willing to engage in community activities and promote the values of volunteerism.

Educational Background:
The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. However, candidates with higher education in social sciences, international relations, or a related field will be preferred. Relevant training or certifications in data collection methods or research methodologies will also be beneficial for applicants.

Experience:
While prior experience in data collection or fieldwork is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the requirements of the role. Experience working with diverse communities or in humanitarian settings will be considered an asset. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively is crucial for success in this position.

Languages:
Fluency in Turkish is mandatory, as the Enumerator will be working primarily in Turkey and engaging with local communities. Proficiency in English is also highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with IOM staff and reporting. Knowledge of additional languages spoken by migrant communities in the area will be considered an advantage, enhancing the Enumerator's ability to connect with diverse populations.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer assignment, not employment, and candidates should be aware that the allowances provided are not to be understood as a salary or compensation for work. The monthly living allowance is USD 645, paid in Turkish Lira, and includes private health, dental, life, and dismemberment insurance coverage. An entry allowance of USD 10 is also provided. It is important to note that UNV assignments are volunteer roles, and candidates will be subject to background checks and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-clearance" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security clearance by the United Nations Department for Safety and Security (UNDSS). The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials.
