Job Overview: The Senior Technical Advisor position at PSI involves working closely with the Global Infectious Disease Lead and Project Director on a portfolio of projects funded by CIFF, specifically aimed at introducing and scaling Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). The role focuses on advancing the rapid rollout of lenacapavir and enhancing access to simplified HIV testing methods, including self-testing. The Senior Technical Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting governments and partners to improve the efficiency and integration of HIV prevention programs. This includes leveraging innovations like HIV self-testing and strengthening the connections between HIV testing, prevention, and treatment services. The advisor will also contribute to other key workstreams within the infectious disease team and engage in resource mobilization efforts, making this a multifaceted role that requires both technical expertise and strategic thinking.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Technical Advisor will manage the development of technical activities and strategies for the project, leading the design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative analyses to address evidence gaps and create an enabling environment for the scale-up of injectable PrEP. Responsibilities include developing HIV testing and linkage strategies, identifying priority geographies and populations, optimizing delivery models, conducting cost and impact analyses, and assessing health systems and policy implications. The advisor will provide remote and in-country technical assistance to build the capacity of network members, prepare presentations to communicate findings and recommendations, and stay updated on developments in HIV prevention and testing. Additionally, the advisor will engage with donors, represent PSI in external forums, coordinate reporting to stakeholders, support cross-team collaboration, contribute to new business development, manage technical workstreams, and may oversee staff while fostering a collaborative team culture.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field such as Public Health, Public Policy, or Business Administration. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The ideal candidate should demonstrate advanced technical knowledge in the relevant area, possess strong project management skills, and have the ability to contribute to thought leadership and evidence generation in the field. Experience with new and emerging HIV prevention products and services is highly desirable, along with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft 365 and data visualization tools.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s Degree or an equivalent international qualification in a relevant field such as Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Public Policy (MPP), Master of Public Administration (MPA), or Master of Business Administration (MBA). This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of public health initiatives and the management of health programs.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 10 years of related experience in public health, project management, or a similar field.
