Job Overview:
The Food Security Sector Subnational Co-coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the National Food Security Sector Coordinator/s. This role is pivotal in supporting the Food Security Sector (FSS) team in executing its core functions, which include organizing meetings, workshops, and webinars, as well as supporting the implementation of the sector workplan and deliverables. The position requires engagement with various stakeholders, support for partner organizations, and representation of the FSS in relevant field coordination forums in the Central Area, specifically Homs and Hama. The role is designed to ensure effective humanitarian service delivery, contribute to strategic decision-making, implement sector strategies, and support monitoring, evaluation, and assessments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Food Security Sector Subnational Co-coordinator include supporting inclusive humanitarian service delivery by ensuring equitable access to services for vulnerable populations, managing sector activities, and facilitating sector meetings and training. The coordinator will also inform strategic decision-making by supporting joint assessments and providing accurate data on food security conditions. Additionally, the role involves monitoring food security trends, engaging in capacity strengthening for sector partners, advocating for funding and policies addressing food security needs, and ensuring accountability to affected populations through transparent communication and feedback mechanisms. The coordinator will document good practices and promote cross-cutting issues such as protection and gender inclusion throughout the program cycle.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have previous work experience in response to the Syrian humanitarian crisis, demonstrating a strong understanding of the context and challenges faced. The position requires a highly organized individual with the ability to achieve results in demanding environments. A university degree in a relevant field such as food security, agriculture, or economics is essential. Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian response, particularly in Food Security, Nutrition, or Early Recovery sectors. Skills in high-level coordination, meeting facilitation, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders are crucial. Previous experience in Sector/Cluster Coordination is preferred, along with the ability to maintain morale in challenging circumstances.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant subject such as food security, agriculture, economics, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of food security and humanitarian response effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian response, specifically within the Food Security and/or Nutrition and Early Recovery sectors. Candidates should have experience in high-level coordination and chairing meetings, as well as a contextual understanding of the humanitarian response in Syria.

Languages:
Fluently spoken and written English and Arabic are mandatory for this position. Understanding of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required. Candidates should also have a good grasp of humanitarian response architecture, including coordination mechanisms and funding processes.
