Job Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the acquisition process for international tenders through administrative tasks, research, and partner identification; preparing background papers, presentations, and concept notes; assisting in project implementation, monitoring, and reporting; maintaining databases, partner contacts, and project documentation; supporting knowledge management and communication tasks; and assisting with administrative and logistical tasks related to InS operations in Brussels. These responsibilities will provide the intern with hands-on experience in the operational aspects of international development projects and enhance their understanding of the sector.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in fields such as international relations, political science, economics, development studies, business administration, or related disciplines. A strong political sensitivity and a good understanding of development policy issues, particularly those related to German development cooperation, are essential. The ideal candidate should have a high interest in international cooperation and development, basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation in development cooperation, and excellent written and spoken English skills. Fluency in German and/or French is considered a strong asset, along with good knowledge of common MS Office programs and familiarity with MS Lists and MS SharePoint. Strong drafting skills, a proactive and detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to work under pressure are also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a relevant academic program, specifically in international relations, political science, economics, development studies, business administration, or related fields. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of international development and the specific tasks associated with the internship.

Experience:

GIZ will not cover costs or apply for work permits for internships. The organization offers a monthly stipend of €1,350 (gross) and the contract will be governed by Belgian law.
