Job Overview: The Consultant for Visual Documentation will play a crucial role in capturing and documenting the work of UNICEF Côte d'Ivoire. Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will be responsible for providing all necessary photographic equipment and delivering high-quality photo and video documentation of UNICEF's programs and events. This includes professional coverage of high-level visits, program interventions, and the creation of multimedia content for internal and external distribution. The consultant must ensure that all images and videos are edited to meet UNICEF's standards and that descriptive captions and quotes are included to enhance storytelling. Additionally, the consultant will need to collaborate with UNICEF's Multimedia Specialist and Chief of Communication to ensure that all deliverables are satisfactory and meet the organization's requirements. The consultant will also be expected to track and share the impact of the stories documented, providing before-and-after results where applicable.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be professional photographers or videographers with a degree in photography, communication, or journalism, or possess at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. Experience working with children is highly recommended. Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, PDF), Final Cut Pro, and Premiere Pro is essential. Strong writing skills for human interest stories and captions in English are also necessary. The consultant should demonstrate a commitment to ethical storytelling and the protection of children's rights.
Educational Background: A degree in photography, communication, journalism, or a related field is required. Candidates with extensive professional experience in photography or videography may be considered in lieu of formal education, provided they meet the other qualifications outlined.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in photography and videography, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in documentary and photojournalism. Experience working in humanitarian contexts or with children is preferred, as is familiarity with the challenges faced by marginalized communities.
