Job Overview: The IT Analyst, Business Solutions position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidency. This position is designed to support the organization's mission of eradicating extreme poverty and fostering shared prosperity through the effective use of technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative IT solutions that enhance the operational efficiency of the Bank Group. This role requires a strong technical background in cloud technologies and data management principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to identify and address their needs. The IT Analyst will play a key role in the ongoing Agile transformation journey of the ITS, ensuring that the organization remains responsive to changing business priorities and can leverage new technologies to deliver value to its clients.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the IT Analyst include but are not limited to: clearly defining the scope and solutions for both Capital and Run-the-Bank (RTB) projects; capturing, analyzing, and organizing business requirements; prioritizing requirements based on business needs; developing software components; producing Tableau/Power BI dashboards; contributing to technical discussions to arrive at innovative solutions; identifying and documenting non-functional requirements; creating business process maps and data flow diagrams; communicating business requirements to technical staff; leading the identification and documentation of business metrics; determining systems of record with the assistance of source system experts; overseeing testing of data acquisition processes; assisting data modelers in preparing and reviewing data models; participating in application testing; and providing recommendations for business improvements and system enhancements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, or a related field, with a preference for a master’s degree in computer science or business administration. Additionally, candidates should have Agile development experience, industry certifications or academic credentials in software development, and extensive experience working with data, SQL, and scripting. Application support experience in a complex landscape with a demanding user base is essential, along with experience in conducting structured interviews to elicit key information for IT systems development. Strong expertise in business and technical process improvement, as well as familiarity with data and business process modeling tools, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, possess strong interpersonal skills, and uphold the highest ethical standards.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes at least a bachelor’s degree in finance, computer science, or a related field. A master’s level degree in computer science or business administration is preferred, as it provides a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in IT solutions for financial institutions. Candidates should also have relevant certifications that demonstrate their expertise in software development and Agile methodologies.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in IT roles, particularly in data management and cloud technologies. This includes hands-on experience with tools such as Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Parquet, Python, and Dremio. Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools like Tableau and Power BI is also crucial. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in environments that require the ability to balance strategic and short-term issues, as well as experience in providing IT-enabled solutions to financial institutions.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for effective communication within the multinational and multicultural environment of the World Bank Group. While English proficiency is required, additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across different regions.
