This role involves utilizing the results from the previous NDC 2.0 assessment conducted by GIZ and aligning with various relevant national policies, including the long-term low-emission development strategy (LT-LEDS). The expert will conduct rigorous analyses to develop realistic and ambitious mitigation trajectories that align with national priorities and international requirements. Additionally, the expert will coordinate the comprehensive drafting of the NDC 3.0 document, oversee its official submission to the UNFCCC, and facilitate a national workshop to communicate these quantified climate commitments to stakeholders and the public. The expert will work closely with national climate experts and various stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to the planned activities and deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Expert.e régional.e include leading the technical modeling necessary to define new mitigation targets for the NDC 3.0, updating existing mitigation measures, conducting gap analyses, and developing detailed mitigation scenarios. The expert will also be responsible for translating the overall mitigation target into specific sectoral targets, conducting in-depth sectoral modeling, and ensuring alignment with national development strategies. Key deliverables include a detailed technical report on updated mitigation measures, a national greenhouse gas emissions reference scenario, and a final version of the NDC 3.0 document that meets international reporting requirements. The expert will also support the official submission of the NDC 3.0 and participate in national workshops to present the results and engage stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of a Master's degree or equivalent in environmental sciences, climate engineering, environmental economics, energy management, environmental engineering, political science, economics, or a related field. A higher degree, such as a Ph.D. or specialized diploma in climate modeling, climate economics, or climate policy analysis, is strongly preferred. Candidates should have at least twelve years of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of eight years specifically focused on climate change mitigation, modeling, and quantitative analysis of climate scenarios. Experience in formulating planning documents related to climate change, including NDCs and LT-LEDS, is essential, along with demonstrated experience in implementing climate transparency frameworks and aligning national climate policies with international requirements.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with a preference for advanced degrees in climate-related disciplines. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of climate modeling, policy analysis, and environmental management necessary for the role.

Experience:
