Job Overview: The Immunization Manager position is critical within the Immunization Section of the Health Programme Group at UNICEF's New York Headquarters. This role is designed to advance global immunization goals as outlined in Immunization Agenda 2030 and UNICEF’s Strategy for Health. The Immunization Manager will oversee the management, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of major immunization grants exceeding US$250 million, particularly from the Government of Canada and legacy resources from ACT-A HAC. This position will also involve strategic support for UNICEF’s immunization-focused resource mobilization and partnership portfolio, ensuring coherence between global policy leadership, donor relations, advocacy, and resource mobilization strategies. The role is pivotal in driving impact in global immunization, ensuring optimal use of resources, timely monitoring, and quality reporting of major immunization grants, while also engaging with partners and mobilizing resources effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Immunization Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: managing and coordinating major immunization grants, ensuring timely and quality reporting on donor contributions, maintaining program and budget documentation, coordinating disbursements, tracking resources, and identifying bottlenecks in collaboration with HQ, Regional, and Country teams. The role also includes preparing accurate and timely donor reports, engaging with partners for resource mobilization, developing fundraising strategies, cultivating strong donor relationships, and preparing compelling proposals and investment cases. Additionally, the manager will connect immunization with other priority areas such as nutrition, gender, WASH, and education, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic inputs to the Office of the Health Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Social Science, or a related technical field. They should have at least 8 years of relevant work experience in areas such as Health, Partnerships, Immunization Management, Resource Mobilization, Grant Management, and Advocacy. Essential skills include strategic thinking, partnership building, resource mobilization, performance monitoring, and advocacy skills. Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to manage complexity and ambiguity, think strategically, and work collaboratively with others.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Public Health, Social Science, social development, economic development, or a related technical field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of health programs and the strategic management of immunization initiatives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in health-related fields, particularly in roles that involve partnerships, immunization management, donor engagement, and resource mobilization. Experience in grant management and strategic support is also essential, along with a proven track record of cross-sectoral collaboration and advocacy.
Languages: Fluency in both French and English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners.
