Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNFPA is critical for providing reliable and safe transportation services to staff, high-ranking officials, and visitors. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a range of duties including: driving office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA staff, officials, and visitors; delivering and collecting mail and documentation; meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, managing visa and customs formalities when required; staying informed about traffic, road, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues to ensure safe and timely arrivals; managing vehicle maintenance, conducting minor repairs, and arranging for major repairs; keeping daily vehicle logs and assisting in the preparation of vehicle maintenance plans and history reports; tracking insurance and tax formalities; acting as a translator in the local language for official passengers when necessary; guiding and coaching junior drivers; and assisting CO staff with general administrative duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have completed secondary level education. A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system is required, along with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, local roads, and defensive driving skills is essential. Additionally, candidates should have skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary level education. This foundational education is crucial for understanding the responsibilities and duties associated with the role of a driver in an international organization.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of relevant work experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or the UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with the operational protocols of driving in a professional context.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in either Sinhala or Tamil. These language skills are essential for effective communication with staff and visitors, as well as for fulfilling the role's responsibilities in a diverse environment.
