Job Overview: The Communications Consultant at UNOPS is tasked with supporting the implementation of communication plans that align with project goals. This role involves creating a variety of communication materials, including social media content, and ensuring that the visibility of UNOPS's work is maintained. The consultant will also monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts, ensuring that they meet the required standards and contribute to the overall objectives of the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to communication, with a focus on producing high-quality materials that effectively convey the organization's messages to various stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the implementation of communication plans by assisting in meeting donor visibility and communication requirements, managing a content calendar, and producing visibility materials in line with communication strategies.
Create communication materials by collecting relevant data, writing media releases, onsite visibility materials, news stories, and project profiles, and developing layouts and graphic designs.
Develop social media content by collecting data for promotional materials, creating a bi-weekly social media plan, and monitoring the performance of UNOPS's social media accounts.
Conduct monitoring and evaluation of communication activities to assess their effectiveness and impact, tracking and analyzing information on assigned topics.
Identify and propose information opportunities and activities, ensuring compliance with UNOPS visibility requirements and contributing to website content development.
Maintain the Hub library by keeping it updated with project visibility materials and ensuring effective monitoring and progress control.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Management, International Development, Social Sciences, Public Relations, or a related field. An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in the aforementioned disciplines is preferred and may substitute for some required years of experience. Familiarity with donor visibility guidelines is considered an asset, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic is also an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of UN policies and procedures, and experience working within the UN or an international organization is desired. Proficiency in using the G-Suite platform, including Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides, is also preferred.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Management, International Development, Social Sciences, or Public Relations is required. An advanced degree in these areas is highly desirable and can compensate for some of the required work experience.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in communications and visibility roles is required. Candidates with less experience may be considered if they possess advanced academic credentials. Familiarity with donor visibility guidelines and experience in the UN or international organizations is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, and knowledge of Arabic is advantageous. Experience with the G-Suite platform is also desired.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset and is beneficial for the role.
Additional Notes: The position is offered under an International Individual Contractual Agreement (IICA) at the IICA-1 level, with a contract duration of one year on a retainer basis, specifically for 180 days.
