Job Overview:
The Communication and Visibility Analyst at UNOPS plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of communication plans that align with project goals. This position involves creating a variety of communication materials, including social media content, and ensuring that the visibility of UNOPS's work is maintained. The analyst is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication efforts, which is essential for adapting strategies and improving outreach. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying communication opportunities and ensuring compliance with UNOPS visibility requirements. The analyst will work closely with project teams to gather relevant data and updates, contributing to the overall success of communication initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Communication and Visibility Analyst include:
  • Contributing to the implementation of communication plans by ensuring donor visibility and communication requirements are met, managing a content calendar for various channels, and producing visibility materials in line with communication plans.
  • Creating communication materials by collecting data, writing media releases, onsite visibility materials, news stories, and project profiles, as well as developing layouts and graphic designs.
  • Developing social media content by collecting data for promotional materials, creating bi-weekly social media plans, and monitoring the performance of UNOPS social media accounts.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of external communication activities, tracking and analyzing information on assigned topics, and suggesting improvements.
  • Identifying information opportunities and ensuring compliance with UNOPS visibility standards.
  • Contributing to website content development and maintaining an up-to-date Hub library of visibility materials.
  • Monitoring and controlling progress to ensure communication goals are met.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Communication and Visibility Analyst position include a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Management, International Development, Social Sciences, Public Relations, or a related field. An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in these disciplines is desired and may substitute for some of the required years of experience. Familiarity with donor visibility guidelines is considered an asset, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic is also an asset. Additionally, knowledge of UN policies, procedures, and operations is beneficial, and experience working with the G-Suite platform is desired.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Management, International Development, Social Sciences, or Public Relations. An advanced degree in these areas is preferred and can substitute for some experience requirements, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in communications and visibility roles. Depending on academic credentials, this requirement may be reduced. Experience with donor visibility guidelines is advantageous, and familiarity with UN policies and operations is preferred. Candidates should also have experience using the G-Suite platform, including Google Drive, Calendar, Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Slides.

Languages:
The mandatory language requirement for this position is excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in the region and with diverse stakeholders.

The contract type for this position is an International Individual Contractual Agreement (IICA) - Retainer, classified at the IICA-1 level. The contract duration is for one year, specifically a retainer contract for 180 days.
