The intern will work under the supervision of the Head of GITSU and collaborate with the IMTS Intranet focal point. The intern will be expected to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of improvements to the intranet, ensuring that it meets the needs of OHCHR staff globally. This role will also involve collecting and publishing relevant information about IT services, supporting the launch of new tools for knowledge sharing, and ensuring that the intranet remains user-friendly and up-to-date. The internship is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, providing a comprehensive learning experience in a multicultural environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Contributing to the design, development, and implementation of improvements to the GITSU intranet pages based on the SharePoint platform.
Collecting, classifying, and publishing relevant information related to IT services provided by the Information Management and Technology Section (IMTS).
Supporting the identification, launch, and adoption of new tools and platforms that foster knowledge sharing, collaboration, and peer-to-peer support across the organization.
Assisting in creating and editing content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and accessibility for OHCHR staff globally.
Providing technical and communication support to ensure intranet pages remain user-friendly, relevant, and up to date.
Collaborating with team members to enhance the overall functionality and user experience of the intranet.
Engaging with stakeholders to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to the intranet content and structure.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the United Nations Secretariat internship programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent) or have completed such a degree.
Preferably have a background in Information Technology, Information Management, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of communication over intranet platforms based on SharePoint technology.
Familiarity with knowledge management, information architecture, and digital content organization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and capacity to translate technical content into clear, user-friendly messages.
Must commence the internship on the date indicated in the Acceptance letter if selected.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) or a graduate school programme (Master's degree or higher) in relevant fields such as Information Technology, Information Management, Communications, Digital Media, or a related area.
