The organization has been particularly focused on assisting Palestinian, Iraqi, and Syrian refugees. In 2011, DRC received official registration from the Ministry of Interior, which allowed it to concentrate its efforts primarily on addressing the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the subsequent impact on the Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon aims to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs while improving the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contributing to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of approximately $12 million and a dedicated workforce of over 200 staff members, DRC is particularly focused on protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sectors in regions such as Bekka, North Lebanon, and Beirut. Additionally, DRC is committed to enhancing the evidence base and coordination structures in the country through its Evidence Generation and Referral Information Management (RIMs) teams.
Job Overview: The role of the Community Mobiliser is crucial in conducting project location activities under the protection component. The primary responsibilities include building trust within the community and fostering positive relationships with community members. Community Mobilisers will serve as the main protection community-facing focal points in their designated areas. They will be responsible for sharing protection concerns, safely identifying and disclosing individuals facing protection risks such as Child Protection (CP), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and General Protection (GP), and referring these cases to the relevant DRC staff for follow-up. The role also involves conducting Community-Based psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (CB-PSS) activities, filling out individual surveys, and supporting awareness and sensitization activities within the community. This position requires a proactive approach to community engagement and a strong understanding of protection principles.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Community Mobiliser will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: attending capacity-building training sessions as requested by DRC; sharing protection trends and referring identified cases; regularly filling out surveys and assessments; supporting the conduct of Focus Group Discussions; delivering Community-Based Psychosocial Support (CB-PSS) activities to affected children and their caregivers; establishing and maintaining good relationships with targeted community members and stakeholders; ensuring regular reporting of protection activities; conducting awareness sessions and disseminating key messages among community members; and disseminating updated service mapping and referral pathways at the community level.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must adhere to the DRC Code of Conduct and demonstrate a commitment to preventing sexual exploitation and abuse. A good knowledge of the area and overall context is essential. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as social sciences, statistics, or data science is preferred. Previous experience with a humanitarian organization is also preferred, with a minimum of at least 1 year of relevant experience. Strong communication skills, a good understanding of protection and child protection principles, and the ability to work under pressure are crucial. Candidates should possess good facilitation and sensitization skills, as well as an understanding of psychological first aid and a readiness to support as needed.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as social sciences, statistics, or data science. This educational foundation is important for understanding the complexities of the humanitarian context and effectively engaging with the community.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in a relevant field, preferably within a humanitarian organization. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to work effectively in challenging environments and engage with vulnerable populations.
