Job Overview:
The Investment Officer (IO) position within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) at IFC is a critical role that involves identifying and executing new investment transactions primarily in Lebanon and across the broader Middle Eastern region. The IO will be responsible for supporting portfolio supervision and will report directly to the IFC FIG Regional Business Lead for the Levant sub-region. This role requires a proactive approach to promoting, originating, and leading the execution of investment projects, particularly in fragile and conflicted situation (FCS) markets. The IO will engage with various stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and private businesses, to develop strong relationships that facilitate investment opportunities. The position demands a deep understanding of the financial sector and the ability to navigate complex market dynamics to drive successful investment outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: promoting and leading the execution of FIG sector investment projects in Lebanon and other Middle Eastern markets; building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, regulators, and partners; supervising multiple portfolio projects across different asset classes such as debt, equity, guarantees, and trade finance; utilizing financial competencies to negotiate successful outcomes; identifying innovative financial structures tailored to client needs; developing a robust pipeline of investment opportunities; supporting the implementation of FIG MCT strategy; monitoring financial markets and macroeconomic developments; coordinating with support departments to address investment challenges; evaluating opportunities to enhance social development impact; and mentoring junior team members.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Investment Officer position must possess an MBA or an equivalent master's degree in finance or management. A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, investment, or banking is required, with a proven track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing investments. Hands-on experience in the banking sector is considered a plus. Familiarity with the Lebanese market and similar FCS markets is essential. Strong financial and credit skills are necessary, along with the ability to structure various financial instruments. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of the financial industry, the ability to identify trends and opportunities, and a strong network within the financial sector. Proven business development and client relationship skills are critical, as well as the ability to interact with management teams and government officials. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to sustainable development in FCS markets are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an MBA or an equivalent master's degree in finance or management. This advanced degree is essential for understanding complex financial concepts and for effectively engaging in high-level investment discussions and negotiations.

Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of relevant experience in finance, investment, or banking. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully sourcing, structuring, and closing investments, demonstrating their capability to navigate the complexities of the financial sector. Experience working specifically with the Lebanese market or similar FCS markets is highly valued, as it indicates familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities present in these environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international stakeholders. Proficiency in Arabic is preferred, as it enhances the ability to engage with local clients and partners effectively. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of regional engagement.
