Job Overview:
The Head of the Russian Language Service is responsible for overseeing the Russian Language Service team within the Division of Conference and Document Services (MTCD) at the IAEA. This role involves revising, drafting, editing, and translating a variety of content, including administrative, legal, economic, scientific, and technical documents. The incumbent will ensure the high quality and timely delivery of Russian language content, manage the performance of team members, and provide training and guidance to both the Russian Language Service team and the Multilingual Output Production Team. The position requires a strong command of the Russian language and a deep understanding of the IAEA's mission and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and coordinate the work of the Russian Language Service team, ensuring effective collaboration among professional staff and freelancers.
  • Revise and edit content in Russian produced by team members, covering a wide range of subjects.
  • Draft, translate, and edit documents as needed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to IAEA standards.
  • Make authoritative decisions on terminology, language, and subject matter, assessing the competence of team members.
  • Provide training and guidance to the Russian Language Service team and the Multilingual Output Production Team.
  • Implement innovative solutions and best practices in the production of Russian language content as directed by the Section Head.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and timeliness in all deliverables, ensuring compliance with IAEA regulations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced university degree (master's) in translation, languages, or a related field. A bachelor's degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in translation, with at least four years in an international organization, public sector, or non-profit organization.
  • Experience in supervising teams of translators is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and IT translation tools, particularly TRADOS Studio and Multiterm.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's) in translation, languages, or a related field. A bachelor's degree (bachelor) with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced university degree. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the field of translation. Candidates should have at least four years of experience working in an international organization, public sector, or non-profit organization, or equivalent. Experience in supervising teams of translators is considered an asset, as it demonstrates the ability to manage and guide a team effectively.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are excellent oral and written command of English and Russian. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish, is considered an asset, as it enhances the candidate's ability to work in a multilingual environment and collaborate with diverse teams.

Additional Notes:
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $101,540, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Additional benefits include a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses, six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan, and health insurance.
