Job Overview:
As a logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager, you will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director and collaborate with headquarters services to ensure the efficient management of logistics resources for the region. Your role is crucial in identifying and resolving logistical issues, as well as implementing HI's logistics standards. You will provide technical assistance and guidance to local partners in Sudan while being based in Nairobi, with the possibility of regular travel to Sudan, contingent on visa approval. Your mission will involve establishing robust logistics processes aligned with HI policies and best practices, ensuring rapid scalability while maintaining compliance. You will also support the implementation of projects scheduled for 2025 and provide ongoing assistance to field teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will encompass defining the logistics section of the strategic operations plan (StratOp) and directing its action plan. You will deploy HI's logistics standards and contribute to the organization's expertise and accountability. Key duties include conducting a diagnostic phase for contextual analysis, resource planning during the design phase, and procurement planning during the launch phase. You will facilitate the development of the logistics profession within HI and contribute to emergency preparedness and response responsibilities. Additionally, you will manage complex procurement processes and adjust logistics strategies in response to changing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security contexts.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must hold a degree in logistics or supply chain management, with training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations, or possess equivalent experience. You should have at least 5 years of proven experience in sectors such as procurement, supplies, management or rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and/or information and communication systems. Furthermore, you should have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a coordination role. Strong analytical and synthesis skills are essential, along with experience in local capacity building. You must be able to work effectively in emergency contexts, manage stress, and perform under pressure. Conflict resolution skills and strong interpersonal and intercultural communication abilities are also required, with proficiency in English being essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in logistics or supply chain management. Additional training in logistics management and the development of humanitarian projects or operations is highly desirable. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered, provided they demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in logistics, specifically in procurement, supplies, management or rehabilitation of premises, fleet management, and/or information and communication systems. Additionally, at least 4 years of experience in a coordination position is necessary to ensure effective management and oversight of logistics operations.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and negotiation. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working in diverse and multicultural environments.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a 3-month international contract starting from mid-September 2025, based in Nairobi with regular travel to Sudan. The international contract includes social coverage tailored to your situation, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. Repatriation insurance is provided by HI. The salary for this position starts at 2850 € gross per month, depending on experience, along with a per diem of 682 € net per month while in the field. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year, and rest and recuperation (R&R) is provided at a rate of 1 day per month. The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be collectively arranged by HI. If you are a resident of the country, a local package will be offered.
