Job Overview: The primary role of the consultant is to provide technical expertise to the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section (NFCMS) in the preparation and execution of significant international conferences related to nuclear technology. This includes the International Conference on Fast Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles, scheduled for May 2026 in Beijing, and the International Conference on Fuel Supply Chain for Sustainable Nuclear Power Development, set for October 2026 in Vienna. The consultant will be responsible for compiling and analyzing peer-reviewed abstracts, liaising with authors, and ensuring the quality and timely submission of conference materials. The position requires a proactive approach to managing conference logistics, including the development of conference programs and the publication of proceedings, e-learning materials, and infographics. The consultant will also maintain the conference websites and track the reception of various conference-related documents, ensuring that all deliverables are met in a timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: compiling peer-reviewed abstracts and extended abstracts for conferences; preparing analyses of input quality for acceptance decisions; liaising with authors to monitor final submissions; tracking the formatting and editing of submissions; keeping conference websites updated; gathering session summaries and main conclusions; compiling technical information for infographics and publications; building the INDICO structure for conference tracks; updating dashboards for submitted abstracts; informing participants of submission outcomes; tracking funding for participants; finalizing scientific programs; and completing conference proceedings for submission post-event. The consultant will also be involved in developing other technical publications and materials as requested by NFCMS.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in nuclear science, nuclear engineering, nuclear fuel cycle, spent fuel management, or radiochemistry. A PhD in a related field is considered an asset. Proficiency in computer and software skills, particularly with Sharepoint and INDICO, is essential. Strong communication skills are required, along with social media management capabilities. The candidate should have experience in organizing technical events and conferences, coordinating with speakers, and compiling technical reports and documents. Fluency in English is mandatory, and additional language skills may be beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's Degree in a relevant field such as nuclear science, nuclear engineering, or related disciplines. A PhD is advantageous and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in nuclear technology and its applications, particularly in the context of the nuclear fuel cycle and waste management.

Additional Notes: The consultancy offers a daily fee of up to €150, commensurate with qualifications and experience. If travel is required for the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs will be covered. It is important to note that health coverage and pension fund responsibilities lie with the incumbent. The position may involve both full-time and part-time commitments, depending on the project needs and timelines.
