Job Overview:
The Registration Assistant position is crucial within the UNHCR Beirut registration team, which plays a vital role in managing the registration and identity documentation of refugees and asylum seekers in Lebanon. The incumbent will support various registration activities, including case processing, reception, filing, digitization, scheduling, data cleanup, and data management. This role requires responding to inquiries from asylum seekers and refugees about UNHCR's registration procedures, their rights, and entitlements. The Registration Assistant will work closely with protection staff and partners to ensure timely identification and referral of individuals needing protection follow-up. The position demands a high level of accuracy in implementing standard operating procedures and requires the use of registration tools such as ProGres, RAIS, and ProjectX (PXI). The role is set against a backdrop of significant operational changes in Lebanon, necessitating adaptability and efficiency in registration processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Registration Assistant include conducting registration interviews in accordance with local standard operating procedures and registration standards. The incumbent will maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to individual registration cases and respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding registration procedures. They will identify individuals with specific needs and ensure timely referrals for protection follow-up. Collaboration with protection staff and partners is essential for delivering assistance and programming, including the provision of identity and entitlement documentation. The Registration Assistant may also act as an interpreter and translator when necessary and will refer cases to other units within the office and to implementing partners as required. Additionally, the incumbent will support the identification and management of risks impacting objectives in their area of responsibility and will perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Essential qualifications include knowledge of IT and computer literacy, particularly in registration and population data management. Experience in registration and identity management, as well as complex case management, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNHCR registration and identity management standard operating procedures and tools, including ProGres, RAIS, BIMS, and PXI, is an asset. Strong understanding of international protection principles and concepts is also required, along with training in registration, operational data management, or information management.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, or Information Technology. Certifications in these areas are considered essential for the role. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of registration and identity management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires at least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role. Experience in working with UNHCR ProGres software is desirable, as is experience in registration case processing and managing large caseloads. The incumbent should be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a complex and demanding context, showcasing good planning skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, along with the UN working language of the duty station, which is Arabic in Lebanon. Proficiency in local languages is also beneficial and may enhance communication with asylum seekers and refugees.
