Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in in Datenschutzmanagement is designed for individuals who are passionate about shaping the digital future of the organization and tackling the challenges posed by an increasingly digital world. The role is situated within the Digital Transformation and IT Solutions (DIGITS) department, which encompasses various facets of IT, including IT development, global T-services, and operations. The intern will play a crucial role in ensuring a secure and efficient working environment regarding data and information management. The focus will be on data protection, which is a central theme for GIZ, and the intern will support the Data Protection Management Group in implementing GDPR-compliant processes across the organization’s central units and its approximately 1,500 global projects. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage with exciting digital projects and contribute to the organization's mission of safe and efficient digital transformation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will directly support the Data Protection Management in operational tasks, which include documenting processing activities, reviewing technical-organizational measures, and assisting in providing consultancy services and training for colleagues. The intern will also be involved in evaluating websites, cookie banners, and privacy policies to ensure compliance with data protection standards. Additionally, the role includes learning about current topics in Cyber security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security and Information Security through practical exchanges with other teams. The intern will participate in the data protection assessment of surveys and review incoming results for adherence to company-wide guidelines. Furthermore, the intern will assist the communications team in keeping information and the intranet up to date by creating informational materials and news, and will have the opportunity to attend (possibly virtual) professional events, test the latest tools in IT pilot projects, and enhance their digital competencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have a keen interest in data protection in the digital age and the internal digitalization of a company. They should possess initial experience in data protection and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and communicate effectively. Ideal candidates will have advanced or recently completed bachelor's degrees, enthusiasm for digital trends and tools related to data protection, and an understanding of the cultural interplay between people and technology. Knowledge in relevant fields such as law, data protection, business administration, information technology, and communication is essential. A high affinity for IT and enjoyment in learning and utilizing tools that support data protection management is required, along with an understanding of administrative and organizational processes in a collaborative work environment. Candidates should exhibit strong initiative, self-organization, a structured work style, teamwork skills, reliability, and a willingness to engage deeply with topics and independently explore new areas of work, particularly in the context of development cooperation. Proficiency in MS Office applications (especially Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) is also necessary, along with good communication skills in both German and English, both written and spoken.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a degree program or in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship are also eligible to apply. A background in fields related to data protection, IT, or business administration is preferred.

Experience:
Candidates should have some initial experience or exposure to data protection practices, which could be through academic projects, previous internships, or relevant coursework. This experience will help them understand the practical applications of data protection in a corporate environment and contribute effectively to the team.

Languages:
Proficiency in German and English is mandatory, with strong communication skills required in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required for this position.

  • The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
