Job Overview:
The Public Information Consultant position is crucial in supporting refugees from Ukraine and their families in the Czech Republic. The role involves developing and executing targeted communication and outreach strategies to raise awareness about the rights and protective mechanisms available to temporary protection holders. The consultant will coordinate public information activities for IOM Czechia, managing various communication channels such as websites, social media, newsletters, and media relations. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure that vulnerable populations are informed and supported effectively, contributing to the overall mission of IOM in humanitarian coordination and risk mitigation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for coordinating public information and digital outreach efforts, ensuring visibility for IOM and its partners. Key tasks include content creation, where the consultant will produce high-quality materials such as articles, press releases, and audiovisual content. The role also involves managing the IOM Czechia website and social media accounts, ensuring they are regularly updated and engaging. The consultant will develop protective messaging to inform refugees about their rights and available support services. Additionally, the consultant will enhance media engagement by building relationships with journalists, organizing press briefings, and monitoring media coverage to amplify IOM's humanitarian messaging. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Media, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Information, Journalism, or a related field, along with at least three years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a High School degree with five years of relevant experience is acceptable. Proven experience in media and social media advocacy, particularly in humanitarian assistance and migration, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a high level of professionalism, the ability to work under pressure, and experience in developing digital content for international organizations or NGOs.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Media, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Information, or Journalism. Candidates with a High School diploma may also apply if they have significant professional experience in related areas. The educational background should be from an accredited institution, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the necessary skills for effective communication and outreach.

Experience:
Candidates should have proven experience in using media and social media for advocacy and public information, with a focus on humanitarian assistance and migration. Experience in producing compelling visual and written content is crucial, as is the ability to work under tight deadlines. Familiarity with the broad range of migration-related subjects dealt with by IOM is desirable, as is experience in managing digital content for websites of international organizations or NGOs.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for all applicants. A working knowledge of Czech is also required, as it is essential for effective communication within the local context. Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is considered an asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to engage with the refugee population. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the appointment will require certification of the candidate's medical fitness, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations. IOM provides coverage for occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan, but consultants must secure their own medical insurance for non-occupational issues. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
