Job Overview: The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at IOM aims to attract talented students and graduates who have a specific interest in areas relevant to IOM's programmes and activities. Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The programme is designed to provide interns with practical experience in the field of migration, allowing them to contribute to the implementation of projects and partnerships related to Counter-Trafficking and Child Protection at the IOM Morocco Country Office in Rabat. Interns will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator and the Senior Project Associate, gaining insights into the operations and challenges faced by IOM in the context of migration.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will assist with the implementation of project activities and partnerships related to Counter-Trafficking projects. This includes supporting the coordination of project activities, conducting research, preparing reports, and assisting in the organization of meetings and events. Interns will also be involved in data collection and analysis, contributing to the development of project documentation and ensuring compliance with IOM's policies and procedures. They will have the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental partners, to enhance the effectiveness of project implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or in a graduate degree programme. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated with a university or graduate degree must commence the internship within one year of graduation. Interns should possess excellent computer skills, particularly in SAP software and MS Office applications, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. They should demonstrate rigor, diligence, flexibility, and adaptability to the context, along with a motivation to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes being enrolled in or having completed a university degree programme at the Bachelor’s level or higher. Candidates should have a strong academic foundation relevant to the work of IOM, particularly in fields related to migration, international relations, social sciences, or similar disciplines.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have less than two years of relevant working experience. This can include internships, volunteer work, or other experiences that demonstrate a commitment to the field of migration and an understanding of the challenges faced by migrants.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is mandatory, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Arabic is also required. Proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Spanish, is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The internship is subject to funding confirmation and will require certification of medical fitness for appointment, verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned government where applicable. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving an internship allowance or scholarship from their university or other sponsoring body will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan for the duration of the assignment, but interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including discrimination and harassment. IOM does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process and only accepts applications submitted through the IOM online recruitment system.
