Job Overview:
The Investment Officer (Fisheries and Aquaculture) plays a crucial role in providing analytical and technical support for the development and management of fisheries and aquaculture. This position requires close collaboration with public and private sector stakeholders to formulate, implement, and evaluate investment policies, strategies, programs, and projects. The officer will deliver investment and finance support solutions, leveraging technical expertise and capacity development to achieve significant impacts in transforming agrifood systems, aligned with the FAO Strategic Framework and the FAO Blue Transformation Roadmap. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, engaging in investment initiatives, and promoting sustainable food systems that include various stakeholders such as producers, organizations, and governments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Investment Officer will participate in and potentially lead multidisciplinary teams to assist governments in identifying and preparing investment initiatives in security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, agriculture, rural development, and natural resource management. Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in fisheries, aquaculture, aquatic food sciences, marine biology, or a closely related field. A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in fisheries and aquaculture management is required, including experience in formulating and implementing investment operations in sustainable aquatic food value chains in developing countries. Proficiency in English (level C) and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is also mandatory.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in a relevant field such as fisheries, aquaculture, aquatic food sciences, or marine biology is essential for this position. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge required to effectively engage in the complexities of fisheries and aquaculture management and investment.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least seven years of relevant experience in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture, particularly in developing countries. This experience should include formulating and implementing investment operations and working in multidisciplinary teams. Experience in investment design, implementation support, and evaluation procedures of major development partners, such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, is highly valued.

Languages:
