Job Overview:
The Emergency Team Manager will play a crucial role in managing a diverse portfolio of emergency and anticipatory actions programs and projects within the WFP Honduras Country Office. This position requires coordination with strategic partners, including government entities, NGOs, and the private sector, to address key issues related to emergency preparedness and response. The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that protection, gender, inclusion, and nutrition issues are integrated throughout the program cycle. The role involves providing support to policy and program activities to effectively meet food assistance needs, thereby contributing to the overall mission of WFP in Honduras.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of projects, plans, and processes that align with WFP's wider program policies and guidance.
  • Provide project management support for specific programs and projects of small to moderate size, ensuring compliance with WFP standards.
  • Maintain data gathering and monitoring systems to uphold quality standards.
  • Research and analyze policy and operational issues to assist senior colleagues in policy development.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports on programs and activities for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal counterparts to monitor ongoing projects effectively.
  • Identify and manage potential partnerships to enhance food assistance packages.
  • Support capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and national government in emergency preparedness and response.
  • Provide guidance to support staff and assist with analysis and queries. 1
  • Other duties as required, including coordinating emergency activities and contributing to funding mobilization strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of program lifecycle management and specialized knowledge in areas such as emergencies, humanitarian protection, and gender and inclusion frameworks. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey complex data simply. Candidates should demonstrate conflict management skills, solid analytical and research capabilities, and effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders. A proactive and independent work ethic is necessary, along with the ability to plan and organize work efficiently to meet deadlines and achieve results.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be accepted.

Experience:
At least one year of professional experience in emergency preparedness, response, and anticipatory actions programs is required. Candidates should have experience in implementing technical programs, providing input into policy discussions, and working with national stakeholders in the humanitarian cycle. Experience in designing operations for emergency preparedness and response is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish (level C) is mandatory, while fluency in English (level B) is considered an asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both languages to engage with diverse stakeholders.
