Job Overview: The position of National Contractor for Climate Change Adaptation in the Agriculture Sector involves supporting and facilitating the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) process in Kazakhstan. The contractor will work under the direct supervision of UNEP-CCC, providing technical services for assessing technology needs related to climate change adaptation in the agriculture sector. The role includes developing a portfolio of climate technologies, conducting barrier analysis, and creating a Technology Action Plan (TAP) report. The contractor will engage with stakeholders, organize consultative meetings, and lead the identification and prioritization of technologies through participatory processes. The main objectives of the project are to identify and prioritize technologies that contribute to mitigation and adaptation goals while addressing barriers to their deployment and diffusion. The contractor will also be responsible for preparing various reports, including the TNA, BA&EF, and TAP reports, which will guide the implementation of climate technologies in Kazakhstan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The contractor will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Organizing consultative stakeholder meetings and workshops for technology prioritization and results validation.
Identifying and prioritizing technologies for the agriculture sector through participatory processes involving relevant stakeholders.
Facilitating the establishment of sectorial working groups and identifying institutions for data support.
Collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing information to prepare technology fact sheets.
Leading discussions with stakeholder groups on implementing prioritized technologies and improving implementation circumstances.
Preparing and finalizing the TNA, BA&EF, and TAP reports, ensuring stakeholder inputs are included.
Developing project ideas for attracting funding for selected technologies.
Utilizing best practices and methodologies from UNEP-CCC and other approved sources throughout the TNA process.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a postgraduate degree in environmental management or related fields focused on climate and technology. Expertise in climate adaptation and agriculture is essential. The contractor should have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the agriculture sector or related fields, with practical experience in climate adaptation, preferably in Kazakhstan. Experience in research analysis and project management is required, along with a background in a national climate agency or organization being desirable. The contractor should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a postgraduate degree in environmental management or other climate and technology-related fields.
