Interns will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Manager, contributing to the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Partnership (ETP). This role involves a blend of support work and independent assignments, allowing interns to gain substantial responsibility while enhancing their project management skills. Interns will be tasked with researching and analyzing developments in the energy sector, particularly focusing on energy transition issues in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. They will assist in project implementation, prepare communication materials, and support event planning, thereby playing a crucial role in the operational aspects of the projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: conducting research and analysis on energy sector developments; preparing periodic updates and issue-based summaries; assisting with project implementation and documentation; supporting event planning and project management processes; collecting and processing data for reports; maintaining communication with stakeholders; taking meeting minutes; preparing briefing materials for meetings; and providing administrative support as needed. This diverse set of responsibilities ensures that interns gain comprehensive exposure to the workings of project management within the context of energy transition initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in relevant fields such as International Affairs, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Business Administration, Project Management, or Engineering. Additionally, candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program or have graduated within the last three years. Professional experience in international development, project management, or related fields is desirable, along with prior project management certification. Strong computer literacy, particularly in Google Suite or MS Office applications, is required, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this internship includes a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields. Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a university program, such as a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D., within three years prior to the application date. This educational background is essential to ensure that interns have the foundational knowledge necessary to contribute effectively to the projects they will be involved in.
Experience: Interns are expected to have some professional experience in fields related to international development, project management, or engineering. Experience in research, analysis, and report writing, particularly related to energy transition or climate change topics in the Philippines or Southeast Asia, is highly desirable. Additional Notes: The internship contract is for a duration of six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability. Interns may receive a monthly stipend, provided they do not receive funds from other institutions, and UNOPS may offer a one-time travel lump sum.
