Job Overview: The Finance Analyst position at the World Bank Group is a critical role within the Budget, Performance Review, and Strategic Planning Vice Presidency (BPS). This role involves supporting budget activities, preparing budgets, producing reports, and conducting budget analysis. The Finance Analyst will maintain financial policies and controls, contribute to budget planning, and build positive relationships with stakeholders. The position requires a strong understanding of financial concepts and practices, as well as the ability to provide analytical support to senior professionals. The Finance Analyst will also manage financial and accounting aspects of the organization, ensuring cost efficiency and effective management of deliverables. This role is designed for a team player who is comfortable working with large datasets and possesses strong analytical skills, ideally with a background in finance, accounting, or economics. The Finance Analyst is expected to be adaptable and capable of working across various assignments as business needs evolve.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: preparing and analyzing budgets, producing financial reports, maintaining financial policies and controls, and contributing to budget planning processes. They will also manage the financial and accounting aspects of the organization, which includes establishing and enforcing accounting policies, preparing financial reports, conducting financial analyses, interpreting reports and tax returns, and maintaining corporate relations. The Finance Analyst will support budget activities by providing relevant analytics, using statistical and AI/ML methods, and visualization solutions. They will be expected to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster positive relationships and ensure effective communication. Additionally, the Finance Analyst will be involved in data management and modeling, process analysis, design, and automation, and will be required to deliver high-quality management information and develop reporting systems for management and performance reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, management, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a non-finance bachelor's degree combined with a recognized accounting qualification such as CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting, ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business, or an equivalent accounting certificate is acceptable. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a comparable accounting or finance-oriented role is required. Candidates should have advanced working knowledge of budget and finance systems, particularly SAP, Power BI, BW/AO, and BPC, and should demonstrate experience with major financial and budget management systems. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential, along with a people-oriented approach. Knowledge of external funds policies and procedures is desirable, as is experience with business analysis and critical thinking to analyze complex problems and pursue efficiency improvements independently.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, management, or a related field. Candidates with a non-finance bachelor's degree must also hold a recognized accounting qualification such as CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting, ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business, or an equivalent accounting certificate.
