Job Overview:
The Cybersecurity Consultant - Cloud security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the security posture of WFP's cloud environments. This position involves designing, implementing, and continuously improving secure cloud and hybrid environments. The consultant will focus on engineering and operationalizing cloud-native security controls, integrating cybersecurity measures into cloud infrastructure, and monitoring for potential threats and misconfigurations. The role requires collaboration with cloud architects, operations teams, and other cybersecurity professionals to ensure comprehensive visibility, protection, and resilience across multi-cloud environments. The consultant will also contribute to the development of security standards and incident response capabilities, emphasizing operational excellence in cloud security, including configuration hardening, runtime protection, and continuous monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Cybersecurity Consultant include: Continuously monitoring cloud environments for misconfigurations, threats, and anomalies using tools such as CSPM, SIEM, SOAR, and XDR. Engineering and operationalizing cloud-native security controls to support secure integration with other cybersecurity tools and workflows. Collaborating with architects and cloud experts to design and implement secure cloud and hybrid environments, contributing to the development of modern security architectures. Overseeing detection efforts for cloud services, containerized, serverless, and virtualized workloads across multi-cloud settings. Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) in cloud security, supporting incident detection, triage, and response in cloud environments, and contributing to containment and recovery efforts. Maintaining and updating documentation for cloud security operational procedures, processes, and playbooks. Integrating cloud-specific cybersecurity controls into threat detection, incident response, and threat intelligence processes to support business continuity and resilience. Contributing to the continuous improvement of cloud security operations by evaluating emerging technologies, threats, and best practices. Supporting knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team to foster a collaborative and high-performing engineering environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related fields, or a combination of relevant education and experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or cloud operations is required, ideally with exposure to public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Candidates should have a solid understanding of IT security principles, with a mix of academic knowledge and practical experience. Familiarity with deploying, monitoring, and operating cloud-native security tools, as well as applying secure configurations in cloud environments, is essential. Understanding cloud security operations, including monitoring, threat detection, and response, is also required. Exposure to containerized, serverless, or virtualized workloads, including runtime protection and access controls, is beneficial. Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform) is an asset. Previous experience in international or UN environments is valued but not essential. Cloud-related certifications are desirable, though equivalent hands-on experience is equally appreciated. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are necessary.

Educational Background:
A University Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related fields is required. Candidates with a combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in IT security principles and practices, equipping candidates with the necessary knowledge to effectively contribute to cloud security operations.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or cloud operations. This experience should ideally include exposure to public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. The level of experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of IT security principles, as well as practical experience in deploying, monitoring, and operating cloud-native security tools. Familiarity with cloud security operations, including monitoring, threat detection, and response, is essential for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory. Additionally, intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language is desirable. The second language can be Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese, which is WFP’s working language. Proficiency in multiple languages can enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse WFP team.

Additional Notes:
The position is a Regular Consultant (CST2) role with a duration of 11 months. The duty station is remote, with the option to work from Rome HQ.
