Job Overview: The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director serves as the official representative of Solidarités International in Venezuela, overseeing the smooth operation of the mission. This role involves proposing and implementing mission strategies based on the geopolitical and humanitarian context, monitoring project progress in accordance with SI's charter, and ensuring compliance with internal and contractual procedures. The Country Director is responsible for mobilizing necessary resources for effective program execution, supervising resource administration, coordinating teams, and ensuring their safety. The position may also involve dual roles, such as combining the responsibilities of Country Director with those of Program Coordinator or Field Coordinator, especially in light of the ongoing humanitarian financial crisis in Venezuela.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Director's main responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security incidents, liaising with national authorities and other stakeholders, ensuring security procedures are updated, and briefing new staff on the security context. The role also involves external outreach, maintaining communication with donors, leading the annual strategy definition, and ensuring adherence to strategic goals. The Country Director will coordinate between departments and bases, lead senior management meetings, monitor team performance, and ensure regular communication with headquarters. Additionally, the Country Director will focus on fundraising, developing new project proposals, and monitoring ongoing projects to ensure they meet SI standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a graduate or post-graduate degree in Humanitarian Affairs, international development, or a related field, or have equivalent field experience. A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and in similar positions is required. Candidates should have technical skills in water, hygiene, and sanitation, as well as strong leadership and analytical skills. Excellent writing, interpersonal, and strategic vision skills are also essential.
Educational Background: A graduate degree and/or post-graduate degree in Humanitarian Affairs, international development, or a related field is required. Equivalent field experience may also be considered.
Experience: Candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and 3-4 years of experience in similar positions, demonstrating a strong understanding of the challenges and dynamics of humanitarian work.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory. Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is also required, as it is essential for communication with international stakeholders and donors.
Additional Notes: The position is a short-term contract starting on June 15, 2025, with a duration of one year. The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 3,740 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses. The role includes a break system of 7 working days every three months, with an additional rest day for each month worked. Expatriates receive a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations.
