Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) sector of the develoPPP program. The intern will support program management and the team with cross-project tasks. The MEL team is responsible for monitoring and evaluating individual project measures, ensuring quality assurance, and measuring the impact of the develoPPP program. The intern will contribute to the conceptual development and improvement of the monitoring and evaluation system, including training project managers and implementing new web-based databases. This role provides an opportunity to deepen understanding of MEL from both development policy and business perspectives, while also engaging in planning, coordination, and execution of evaluations and sector analyses. The intern will conduct research on develoPPP projects, prepare analyses, and assist in the organization of internal and external events to enhance the program's positioning.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in various tasks including supporting the methodological development of the MEL system, conducting evaluations, and preparing results to promote continuous learning within the organization. Responsibilities include researching develoPPP projects, preparing analyses, and structuring complex workflows and materials. The intern will also assist in responding to inquiries from the German Bundestag, the BMZ, and GIZ management regarding various topics, and contribute to the presentation of the develoPPP program. Additionally, the intern will help organize events, contribute ideas for improving MEL, and perform administrative tasks such as creating protocols and maintaining document organization. The role offers insights into the diverse daily operations of GIZ and its various develoPPP projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least a completed undergraduate degree or a bachelor's degree, preferably in fields such as economics (business/economics), political and social sciences, evaluation, or statistics. A strong interest in and ideally some methodological or practical knowledge of private sector engagement in developing and emerging countries is essential. Proficiency in data handling, particularly in data collection, processing, and analysis, is required. Familiarity with the Office 365 suite, especially Excel, and experience with web-based databases and software programs are advantageous. Strong communication skills and excellent verbal and written expression are necessary, along with the ability to quickly and thoroughly grasp new and complex topics. Organizational skills, structured thinking, and conceptual abilities are key strengths for this role.

Educational Background:
The position requires a minimum of a completed undergraduate degree or a bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as economics, political science, social sciences, evaluation, or statistics. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of development policy and the role of the private sector in sustainable development.

Experience:
The internship is designed for candidates who are currently enrolled in a study program, are in a training program that includes an internship, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. While prior experience in monitoring and evaluation is not mandatory, any relevant experience or knowledge in these areas will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in German at a native level is required, along with very good knowledge of English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but is not mandatory for this position.
