This role includes supporting the coordination of monitoring activities and working closely with colleagues in the Programs Unit and field focal points to collect inputs and design relevant information pieces for various internal and external reports. The intern will also engage in data collection and analysis, quality control, and the preparation of reports that reflect the progress of specific projects, facilitating informed decision-making at all organizational levels. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the planning and design of data collection tools in accordance with guidelines developed by the Country Office, and analyzing process and outcome indicators.
Assisting in the implementation of data quality controls throughout the monitoring cycle, ensuring that data and reports are timely and of high quality.
Managing and supervising data collection efforts in both office and field settings, utilizing corporate tools, manuals, and guidelines developed by the Country Office.
Contributing to the drafting of reports on the progress of activities, projects, and programs using established formats from the RAM Unit.
Participating in internal planning meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote the importance of monitoring and evaluation and to socialize results regarding the progress of implemented activities and projects.
Completing suggested virtual courses provided by the Country Office to understand WFP policies on security, ethics, conduct, fraud, and corruption, as well as courses related to monitoring and evaluation.
Supporting training processes for enumerators to enhance the quality of collected information.
Providing inputs for the implementation of the Country Office's M&E Strategy and Monitoring, Review, and Evaluation plans, aligning with WFP's corporate standards.
Performing other activities as requested by the supervisor that are related to the purpose of the position.
Required Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for this internship position include: a) Current enrollment in a university degree program and having completed at least two years of study; or b) Recent graduate from a university degree program or postgraduate program (minimum of two months). Additionally, candidates should possess the following skills: a) Proficiency in Office 365 tools, with advanced knowledge of spreadsheets (Excel). b) Strong oral and written communication skills, including analytical and report writing abilities. c) Willingness to conduct field visits and interact with various partners and stakeholders. d) Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Educational Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university degree program, having completed at least two years of study, or must be recent graduates from a university degree program or postgraduate program. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the principles of monitoring and evaluation, as well as the humanitarian context in which WFP operates.
Experience: While prior experience is not mandatory for this internship position, any relevant experience in data collection, analysis, or monitoring and evaluation within a humanitarian or development context would be advantageous. The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently studying or have recently graduated, providing them with an opportunity to gain practical experience in the field.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms. Knowledge of Spanish is also highly desirable, given the location of the internship and the need to interact with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
