Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on international forest policy within the context of development cooperation. The intern will gain valuable insights into the work of the sector project on international forest policy, which emphasizes forest conservation for climate protection, biodiversity, and development. The intern will assist the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in areas related to international forest policy and forest financing. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with diverse topics and contribute to knowledge management, including research on indigenous peoples' rights related to forests and support in creating a monthly newsletter in English. The intern will also assist in planning, executing, and documenting events, as well as in the preparation of technical publications and presentations on current issues in international forest policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will be involved in the daily operations of the sector project and will learn about the working methods of GIZ. You will have the chance to familiarize yourself with various thematic areas of the sector project and contribute independently to specific topics over an extended period. Your responsibilities will include supporting research on indigenous peoples' rights in the context of forests, assisting in the creation of a monthly newsletter, and providing support for the planning, execution, and documentation of events. Additionally, you will help in the preparation of technical publications, presentations, and expert statements on current topics in international forest policy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should be enrolled in a degree program, preferably in forestry, environmental sciences, natural resource management, environmental economics, political science, or related fields. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. Strong language skills in both German and English are required, while knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an advantage. Experience in organizing events and prior international experience in development cooperation are desirable. The ideal candidate should demonstrate good self-organization, proactive behavior, resilience, teamwork, and intercultural competence.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in a university program or engaged in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated within the last six months are also eligible to apply. A background in fields related to forestry, environmental sciences, or political science is preferred.

Experience:
The internship is suitable for candidates who have some experience in event organization and ideally possess international exposure in the field of development cooperation. While prior work experience is not mandatory, any relevant experience will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is advantageous and will enhance the candidate's profile.
