In partnership with water and sanitation operators in metropolitan areas and their foundations, SI's projects target populations living in degraded sites such as slums or squats, who have limited access to basic services regarding drinking water, sanitation, and essential hygiene products. SI's strategy involves supporting local actors in their search for concrete solutions, proposing improvements to sanitary conditions in these sites, including the installation of drinking water supply systems, sanitation infrastructure, and the development of pilot projects tailored to the specific context of each intervention area.
Job Overview: The Work-study position in logistics and financial coordination for the France mission involves working under the managerial authority of the coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Support Coordinator and collaborating with the administrative and logistics managers of the operational bases in French territories, as well as with the entire team of the France mission. The main objective of this role is to discover and master the various financial and logistical tracking tools of a mission, understand the functioning of a mission comprising five operational bases, comprehend the relationship between the headquarters, coordination, and field bases, discover the different professions within a mission, and grasp project management in the specific French context. The position is designed to provide practical experience in both logistics and finance, ensuring that the candidate gains a comprehensive understanding of the operational aspects of humanitarian work in France.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Work-study position include various logistical and financial tasks. In logistics, the candidate will be responsible for making purchases for the coordination in compliance with SI procedures, consolidating purchases from the bases at the coordination level, tracking durable equipment and contracts, managing coordination premises, providing IT support, organizing and following up on team travel, updating, archiving, and centralizing logistical documents, and maintaining the organizational chart and contact list of the mission. In finance, the candidate will assist in the accounting follow-up of the coordination by updating accounting journals and archiving accounting documents, as well as supporting the Support Coordinator in budget monitoring. Specific activities include assisting in market studies and supplier research, anticipating and consolidating purchases, managing contracts, facilitating transportation of goods, and preparing payment orders for budget holders. The candidate will also assist in the preparation of monthly logistical packs and compile logistical documents for final reports to donors. The role requires participation in weekly and monthly meetings of the logistical and administrative teams and providing support to all bases as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have a background in humanitarian logistics, accounting and/or financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. They must possess excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and have strong analytical and writing skills. Good synthesis and prioritization abilities are essential, along with proactivity, critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure and independently. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to the principles and work of Solidarités International are also required. A driving license (Permis B) is preferred.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree or training in humanitarian logistics, accounting, financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics and finance within a humanitarian context.
Experience: The position is aimed at candidates who may be at the beginning of their careers or those looking to gain practical experience in the field of humanitarian logistics and finance. While specific prior experience may not be mandatory, a demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and a willingness to learn are essential.

Additional Notes: The position is based in Marseille and is a 12-month work-study contract. The remuneration will be at least the legal minimum according to the regulations governing apprenticeship contracts, which vary based on the candidate's level of education and age. Additionally, public transport costs will be covered at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL, and the organization offers meal vouchers worth €8.90 per day worked, with a 60% contribution from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
