The Principal Operations Officer will play a pivotal role in articulating and designing the IFC's strategy specifically for the Amazon region. This position is crucial for leading business development efforts, designing and delivering strategic initiatives, and implementing projects that promote sustainable development, investment, and job creation in the Amazon. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that all strategies align with the overarching goals of both the IFC and the World Bank Group, focusing on sustainable development and environmental conservation while fostering economic growth. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying new business opportunities and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders to promote investment in the region.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Business, Economics, or a related field. They should have more than 15 years of professional experience in banking, consulting, or relationship management within the public and/or private sector, particularly in areas related to private sector development and business environment. Experience in sustainable development is considered a plus. Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to identify potential investment and advisory opportunities, as well as the capacity to address gaps and barriers for market creation in the assigned country. A proven track record in investment transactions, client relationship development, and successful negotiation and structuring of investments is essential. Strong analytical skills, particularly in business and analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, are required to assess project viability and risk/reward trade-offs effectively.
Educational Background:
An advanced degree in Business, Economics, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to equip the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of private sector development and investment strategies in the Amazon region.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have over 15 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as banking, consulting, or technical advisory services. This experience should include a strong focus on private sector development, investment transactions, and relationship management, particularly in the context of sustainable development initiatives. A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain senior-level client relationships is crucial, as is experience in sourcing, negotiating, and closing quality investments.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, with excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Additionally, proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish is preferred, as these languages will facilitate effective communication with stakeholders in the Amazon region.

- Collaborating closely with industry departments within IFC, IBRD, MIGA, and other multilateral organizations to ensure a coordinated approach to development efforts in the Amazon.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, multilaterals, private sector entities, NGOs, and local communities.
- Overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects and initiatives in the Amazon, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Providing regular updates and reports to the Regional Director and other senior management, communicating progress, challenges, and successes to both internal and external stakeholders.
