Job Overview: The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will play a vital role in supporting ATscale's advocacy and communications strategy. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with a multi-stakeholder partnership dedicated to addressing the critical issue of assistive technology access. The intern will work under the guidance of the Advocacy and Communications Advisor, contributing to various communications efforts that enhance the visibility of ATscale's mission. Responsibilities will include creating engaging social media content, managing website updates, assisting in the production of publications, and supporting the development of communication materials for partners. The intern will also gain exposure to the UN system, the disability sector, and multilateral cooperation, providing valuable insights into the workings of international organizations and advocacy efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at supporting ATscale's communications initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Assisting in the creation of engaging social media content for ATscale and Unlock The Everyday platforms, including text, images, and videos.
Producing periodic reports summarizing ATscale's digital presence and activities.
Supporting the management and updating of content on the ATscale and Unlock The Everyday websites.
Assisting in the production of publications, including graphic design, layout, translationcoordination, and creating accessible versions.
Organizing audio-visual content and supporting the creation of new multimedia materials.
Aiding in the development of pitches and communication materials for ATscale partners.
Providing administrative support, including scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and preparing briefing notes.
Offering general assistance to the Communications team on various projects and activities as needed.
Completing other communication and administrative-related tasks as assigned by the unit.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Communications Intern position should possess the following qualifications:
Must be enrolled in a university program such as Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. (or equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three years prior to the application date.
Preferred fields of study include communications, marketing, or a related area.
While professional work experience is not required, any experience in communications, marketing, or social media will be considered an asset.
Familiarity with content creation, website management, or graphic design is advantageous.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, with fluency in other UN languages such as Spanish, French, or Chinese being a plus.
Educational Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a university program, ideally in communications, marketing, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern has the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to ATscale's communications efforts.
Experience: While the internship does not require prior professional work experience, any relevant experience in communications, marketing, or social media will be beneficial. Candidates with experience in content creation, website management, or graphic design will have an advantage in the selection process. Additional Notes: The internship is offered for a duration of 12 months and is classified at the intern contract level. It is important to note that this internship is not intended to lead to a staff position with UNOPS, and there should be no expectation of employment following the internship. Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS, provided they do not receive funds from other institutions.
