Job Overview: The Rehabilitation Project Manager (PM) plays a crucial role in implementing the mandate and 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in the country of operation. Reporting to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, the PM is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the rehabilitation project, ensuring optimal quality and impact through effective management and delegation. The PM will work closely with other HI managers to ensure sound management and effective functioning of the organization. The role involves remote management of the field team based in Al Jazeera State, Sudan, while being based in Nairobi. The PM will also have the opportunity to travel to Sudan for field visits, depending on visa approval. The position requires a strong commitment to the organization's values and a proactive approach to project management, including strategy development, operational implementation, and team coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Rehabilitation Project Manager include:
Management: Act as a role model embodying HI's values; coach team members by translating strategy into operational objectives; encourage innovation and inter-departmental exchanges; organize operational management and steer team performance; ensure compliance with institutional policies and code of conduct.
Strategy and Steering: Contribute to the development of the program's operational strategy; draft project proposals for continuity or expansion; identify new opportunities for project development.
Operational Implementation: Ensure project implementation aligns with the logical framework and budget; manage project activities and resources; ensure compliance with institutional policies and funding body rules; oversee project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning; manage project data collection and ensure proper tools are in place; facilitate coordination among project teams and support services; contribute to external project communication.
Emergency Preparedness and Response: Lead emergency preparedness actions and reorganize team priorities in case of emergencies to ensure effective response.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a degree in physical rehabilitation and proven experience of at least 4 years in the field. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of project management experience, preferably in remote management, and experience in pediatric rehabilitation or rehabilitation projects linked to malnutrition. Proven training and local capacity-building experience are also essential. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively under challenging conditions.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a degree in physical rehabilitation, which is essential for understanding the complexities of rehabilitation practices and methodologies. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for effectively managing rehabilitation projects and ensuring high-quality service delivery to vulnerable populations.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience in physical rehabilitation, with a strong emphasis on project management. A minimum of 2 years of experience in managing projects remotely is preferred, as this role involves overseeing teams in challenging environments. Experience in pediatric rehabilitation or projects addressing malnutrition is highly desirable, as is a background in training and capacity building.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions in which HI operates.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a 9-month international contract starting on July 15th, 2025, based in Nairobi with regular travel to Sudan. The contract includes social coverage tailored to the mission context, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The gross monthly salary starts at 2,757 euros, with a net per diem of 682 euros paid in the field. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and 1 day of rest and recuperation (R&R) per month, depending on the mission level. The position is unaccompanied, and housing is provided collectively by HI. For residents of the country, a local package will be offered.
