Job Overview:
The position involves the development of a comprehensive report that assesses the impacts of 50 years of policy research conducted by IFPRI. The consultant will build upon the findings of a previous report that covered 40 years of research, integrating new evaluations and assessments from the years 2015 to 2019, as well as insights from CGIAR Research Programs. The consultant will be responsible for reviewing existing literature, synthesizing findings, and engaging with external stakeholders to update the impact assessments. The final deliverables include a synopsis chapter of approximately 4000 words and a main report that encapsulates the findings of the research.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough review of the 'Taking Stock: Impacts from 40 years of Policy Research at IFPRI' report to establish a foundation for the new report.
  • Collaborate with IFPRI staff to compile relevant evaluations and assessments of IFPRI's work from 2014 to 202
  • Analyze the compiled evaluations and incorporate significant findings into the new report.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to verify and update the impacts identified in previous assessments.
  • Synthesize the findings into a coherent report that highlights the impacts of IFPRI's policy research over the past 50 years.
  • Ensure that the synopsis chapter and main report are completed within the established timelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MSc or PhD in economics, political science, evaluation science, or a related discipline that is pertinent to policy research and its impacts. Additionally, candidates should have at least 10 years of post-graduate experience in relevant fields, demonstrating strong familiarity with IFPRI's work and a proven track record in conducting impact assessments. Excellent writing skills are essential for this role, as the consultant will be responsible for producing high-quality written reports.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree (MSc) or Doctorate (PhD) in economics, political science, evaluation science, or a closely related field is required. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in policy research methodologies and impact evaluation techniques, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to analyze and synthesize complex information effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in fields related to policy research, impact evaluation, or similar areas. Candidates should have substantial experience in conducting evaluations and assessments, particularly in the context of food policy and nutrition. Familiarity with IFPRI's research and its implications for policy is highly desirable.

Languages:
