Job Overview:
The State Manager position at UN Women is crucial for overseeing the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of programs within the Maharashtra State Office. This role involves providing technical support, managing budgets and personnel, and ensuring alignment with UN Women’s strategic goals. The State Manager will work closely with the Country Programme Manager for Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) to ensure that programs are effectively designed and executed, and that they meet the needs of women and girls in the region. The position requires a strong focus on building partnerships, resource mobilization, and knowledge management to enhance the impact of UN Women’s initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The State Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: managing programmatic development for the Maharashtra State Office, providing advisory support to management, guiding the development of project initiatives, reviewing and providing feedback on project strategies, ensuring compliance with UN Women’s goals, managing program quality control, overseeing monitoring and reporting processes, leading a team, and developing partnerships for resource mobilization. The role also includes drafting policy documents, preparing reports for donors, and ensuring effective communication across the office and with other UN Women units.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills. They should have the ability to develop operational plans and budgets, synthesize performance data, and produce analytical reports. A deep understanding of Results Based Management and UN program management systems is essential. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Political Science, Development, Public Administration, or Gender is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is considered an advantage.

Experience:
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in program management is required, including experience in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Experience in gender-related areas is desirable, along with a proven track record in setting priorities, managing budgets, and leading teams effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Marathi is required for this position. Knowledge of another official Indian language is considered desirable, enhancing communication and engagement with diverse stakeholders.
