Job Overview: The Consultant for Business Intelligence and Data Management will play a crucial role in advancing UNRWA's Enterprise Business Intelligence system. This position focuses on enhancing the agency's capacity to build financial dashboards and reporting systems that are essential for strategic decision-making. The consultant will be responsible for managing a large set of data, ensuring timely processing, and delivering regular dashboards. The role requires a deep understanding of data structures, ETL processes, and reporting tools to support the organization's mission effectively. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to document requirements, design data models, and implement solutions that meet the agency's needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will undertake a variety of specific outputs and tasks, including but not limited to: understanding and documenting requirements with agreed prototypes, report designs, data sources, ETL processes, data structures, and data models; designing and implementing data structures and models; creating necessary data loading packages in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS); designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards; connecting Power BI to various data sources such as SharePoint and MS SQL databases; developing tabular and multidimensional models compatible with warehouse standards; performing data analysis including data migration and quality checks; conducting bug fixes and quality assurance; preparing technical documents and user manuals; providing support by investigating and resolving issues to ensure effective service delivery; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a university degree from an accredited institution in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline. A minimum of 4 years of experience in business intelligence, database management, and software development is required. The candidate should have a strong understanding of data structures, schemas, and database performance, along with expert knowledge of relational databases, particularly MS SQL Server. Proficiency in reporting tools such as Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Tableau, or other BI tools is essential. Familiarity with SSIS and SSAS is also required, along with proficiency in making DAX queries in Power BI desktop. Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric is desirable, and excellent oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer science, information technology, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively managing data and reporting systems.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, database management, and software development. Additional Notes: The consultant will be based at UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, Jordan. The consultancy is expected to last for 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds, ongoing need, and satisfactory performance. The consultancy level is equivalent to grade 14 step 1 on the Jordan salary scale.
