Job Overview: The Associate Development Coordination Officer, Partnerships will play a crucial role in supporting the strategic planning and implementation of UN-Habitat's partnerships. This position involves monitoring and assessing the UN Partnership Strategy in Kenya, identifying risks and opportunities related to partnerships, and contributing to dialogues with partners to improve development assistance policies. The incumbent will also participate in resource mobilization efforts, providing support to develop locally-tailored strategies and initiatives. Additionally, the role includes engaging with external stakeholders to promote the agency's work and contributing to knowledge management and capacity development within the organization. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying new partnership opportunities and enhancing the Unit's engagement and reputation in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide substantive support for strategic planning for UN-Habitat partnerships, including the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy in Kenya, monitoring its effectiveness, and suggesting adjustments as necessary.
Participate in joint resource mobilization efforts for the Partnerships Unit, assisting in the development of strategies and monitoring existing partnerships.
Support mobilization efforts for achieving the SDGs by engaging stakeholders and analyzing trends in partnerships.
Contribute to knowledge management and capacity development by maintaining knowledge networks and strengthening stakeholder capacity for SDG investment partnerships.
Collect and analyze data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making and reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of sustainable development theories and concepts, with the ability to conduct research, analyze data, and write reports on related issues. Professionalism, planning and organizing skills, and effective communication abilities are essential. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to gender perspectives and the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, actuarial sciences, or related fields is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in providing strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, resource mobilization, or development finance is required. Experience in interacting with a diverse range of local, national, and international partners is essential, as well as experience in a multicultural environment. Desirable experience includes preparing analytical reports, project proposals, and training materials, along with at least one year of experience in data analytics or a related area.
Languages: Fluency in English is required, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is desirable. Fluency is defined as a rating of 'fluent' in all four areas (reading, writing, speaking, understanding), while knowledge is rated as 'confident' in two of the four areas.
Additional Notes: This position is temporarily available for 364 days. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment. The position may be limited to candidates based at the duty station, and it may be restricted to internal candidates who have been recruited through a competitive examination.
